 Dear Loyal Customers and Friends:

With over 80 years as a General Motors (GM) dealer, we have been fortunate to become a part of many of our customers' lives, including yours.  We appreciate the continuing reliance upon us by our very loyal customers whenever they need maintenance or a new car.

However, our family now faces a need of our own for which we need your help.  GM has recently been undertaking a painful restructuring, resulting in the elimination of several of its brands and a reduction in the number of its dealers.  GM has used a mathematical formula, using customer satisfaction scores and sales data to determine those dealers that will remain and those that will be terminated.  Under the current formula, The Alderman Motor Company has exceeded the overall requirements as a dealer.  However, GM has not indicated any interest in continuing with The Alderman Motor Company.

Although we expect to continue to service the cars that our family has sold over the prior decades, GM's decision puts at risk the livelihoods of all our employees.  We are a profitable dealership that wants to continue to sell new Cadillacs while employing our fellow residents of Connecticut.

We are asking our federal and state elected officials for their help in contacting senior GM leadership to help us make our case heard.  However, our elected officials face numerous requests for their time.  We need your help in making it clear to them that they should help us in our fight with GM to be reinstated.

Please sign the attached petition and return it to us: fax: (203)237.7510, email: help@aldermancadillac.com or via U.S. Postal Service: 380 S. Broad Street, Meriden, CT 06450  AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  We will be delivering these petitions in advance of our meetings with the Connecticut Delegation in the weeks ahead.  It is important to elected officials that they know they are helping residents of Connecticut so it is crucial that you list your full name and Connecticut address on the petition.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments or concerns.  Thank you in advance for your help by signing and returning the attached petition.  We look forward to servicing you for another 85 years.

Sincerely,

The Platt Family

Dear Elected Officials:

As a friend of The Alderman Motor Company in Meriden and your constituent, I am writing to ask you to help the Alderman family with their efforts to stop General Motors from closing their dealership.  The Alderman Motor Company is an 85 year, family owned business.  They are an asset to the community, donating time and resources to groups such as the Kiwanis Club, Girl Scouts, Junior League of Hartford and UConn Cancer Foundation just to name a few.

I have recently learned that General Motors has not yet offered to renew The Alderman Motor Company despite meeting the mathematical criteria for continuing as a dealer.  In tough economic times, we simply don't need more unemployed residents of the state of Connecticut.  I hope you agree and trust that you will help our neighbors in their time of need.

Please let me know how you are willing to help.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
